지리학은 인간활동의 무대인 지표공간의 구조와 기능 및 변화과정을 규명하기 위한 합리적  이론추구와 자연과

  인간의 환경문제를 해결할 수 있는 지구 기초 과학적 이론과 응용을  포함하는 학문이며, 자연환경과 사회, 경제적

  환경, 문화적 전통 등의 지속적인 상호 연관성을  통해 이루어진 인간의 생활공간 특성을 다룬다. 지형, 기후, 수문

  등의 자연 현상들과 도시와  산업입지 및 자연과 교통 등 사회, 경제적 현상들이 연구 대상이다.

Geography is a basic science which examines characteristics of both physical phenomena and

    human activities on the surface. this department focuses on producing outstanding geographers who

    can understand and resolve the cariety of environmental problems caused by the rapid urvaniwation and

    industrialiwation. the class subfents are mainly consisted of geomorphology, hydrology, climatoloy,

    climate change, urban geography, economic geography and so on.

지리학전공에서는 지표면에 분표하는 여러 현상들을 조사 분석하여 현상들간의 상호 연관성을 지역의 관점에서

    파악함으로써 다양한 지리적 현상들간의 공간적 관계를 밝히고, 이를 기초로 인간과 환경의 그리고 사회와 공간과의

    관계에 대한 깊이 있는 이해와 전문성을 추구하며 사회의 요구에 부응하고자 한다. 건국대 지리학과는 50년이 넘는

    긴 역사와 전통을 바탕으로 우리나라 지리학계를 선도해 나가고 있다. 여타 지리학과와는 달리 이과대학에 소속되어

    특성화를 추구하고 있으며, 이론과 더불어 실험실습과 정기 답사를 통하여 지역문제와 환경 관련 문제를 해결하는데

    필요한 지식과 기능을 익히고 있다.

The geography department aims not only to give students the knowledge in understanding and analyzing

     the relationship between people and environment, their spatial consequences, and the resultiong regional

     structures that have emerged on the earth surface, but also to prerare students for a careea in applied

     geographic reseach. Geography department at Konkuk Universuty have vigorously explored and directed

     human and physical geography since the department fouding in 1956
